Dodd: Financial Reform Bill by December

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd said on Wednesday that he hoped to pass a financial services reform bill out of his committee by early December.

"My hope is to be able to finish a mark-up of our bill sometime the end of this month, the early part of next month," Dodd told reporters.

Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat, has said he plans to unveil draft legislation next week aimed at tightening bank and capital market regulation.

Financial reform legislation has been moving on a faster track in the U.S. House of Representatives, where the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday approved a measure to double the budget of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and boost investor protections.
